Palm Beach Post - Mahoney goes to Dunbar pushing bills to help stave foreclosures
By ROCHELLE E.B. GILKEN
Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
WEST PALM BEACH, Florida - Congressman Tim Mahoney is meeting with housing and county officials this morning to discuss the bills he is sponsoring to improve the housing market. The bills provide money for various loans and grants that allow homeowners to refinance and avoid foreclosure. He said the money would largely benefit communities such as Port St Lucie and Royal Palm Beach, among residents with an average income of 40,000. The meeting is at Dunbar Village, a public housing complex.
West Palm Beach Housing Authority executive director Laurel Robinson said the bills would also help low-income residents who live in places like Dunbar because it stabilizes communities and makes it easier for first-time home buyers to afford a place.
